Adrian Gonzalez Foolishly Challenges Cubs Fans
The Chicago Cubs took a commanding lead in the best of seven National League Championship Series. Now the best team throughout the regular season has earned the right to finish the series at home, where they had a 57-24 record during the regular season and 3-1 in the playoffs. A .706 winning percentage at the friendly confines proves there is certainly an advantage to playing at home.
But the LA Dodgers first baseman Adrian Gonzalez still felt the need to issue a challenge to the home crowd at Wrigley.
“The same (atmosphere) we had in Game 1 and 2,” Gonzalez explained. “They can’t put any more people in the stands. They can only put so many people.”
“They can’t cheer any louder,” he said. “It’s not like it’s a loud stadium to begin with. They’re going to try their best, and we’re going to tune them out like we always do.”
Maybe we should remind Gonzalez he hasn’t had much luck with challenges lately. Maybe we should remind him that the Cubs lead 3-2. Maybe we should remind him he is one loss away from the start of his offseason. Finally, maybe we should remind him there are rumors that Clayton Kershaw is tired and MLB scouts believe the extreme usage over the past month has worn him down (per Barry Rohnert on WSCR-AM 670 the Score).
