Bobby Hull Sends Congrats to Kane in Awkward Video

While pulled up next to the bar, Chicago Blackhawks legend Bobby Hull reflected on Patrick Kane scoring in his 22nd consecutive game, passing his team record. He thought in order to congratulate Kane in the best way possible, he’d pull out a phone camera, shoot a video, and posted it to social media.

It was obviously a great gesture as Hull sends congrats in the video, and great to know Bobby Hull officially has passed the torch to Kane. Only thing is… it seemed errily familiar…

Oh, yeah! That’s it!

All Hull was missing was a tree stand and some camouflage. I mean, Bobby almost used the same script… the whole glad you did it, now go get the other 30. While Favre said, now go get them all (referring to the rest of Favre’s records).

I’m sure just a weird coincidence, and the real story here is Patrick Kane’s greatness over the past 22-games.

Now begins the tough part. The NHL record is 51 consecutive games by Wayne Gretzky, and the next longest streak by a notable, and current player, is the Pittsburgh Penguins Sidney Crosby at 25.

This point almost didn’t happen however. With time running out late in Sunday’s game against the Winnipeg Jets, Winnipeg pulled their goalie for the extra attacker. With the puck up for grabs,  Bryan Bickell – who was recalled before the contest – said Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville began screaming to pass the puck to Kane.

Kane was able to slap the puck free to Artemi Panarin, who scored and extended Kane’s streak with the assist. After the game it sounded like Kane was just as glad to place his name alongside Hull, as Hull was to see him pass his record.

“Any time you can put your name with Bobby Hull, Denis Savard, or Eddie Olczyk, you’ve got to be doing something right,” said Kane.

Now Kane looks to surpass The Great One’s record. He needs 30 more games to break it. It’s a daunting task, but with how hot Kane has been this season maybe there’s a chance.
