Cubs Fire Wrigley Field DJ

There are jokes and then there is bad taste. The Chicago Cubs just fired the Wrigley Field DJ because of bad taste.

After Aroldis Chapman left the field during the Cubs vs St Louis Cardinals game Sunday the song “Smack My Bitch Up” by Prodigy blared over the Wrigley speakers. While playing the song at a sporting event is probably considered poor taste in general, playing it when Chapman is on the field offers another layer to the DJ’s poor judgement.

During the offseason Chapman was involved in an altercation at his house and which his wife head claimed he physically assaulted her, and then escaped to his garage where he shot a pistol at the walls. While the police did not press charges against Chapman, Major League Baseball did in fact suspend the reliever 30 games for his involvement in the situation.

Fans and media are already questioning Chapman even being part of the 2016 Chicago Cubs, and how someone of questionable morality can infect what seems to be a solid Cubs locker room. There have been several fans, domestic violence groups, and media outlets that have explicitly expressed their displeasure  with Chapman, and the Cubs, and this occurance continues to promote the neanderthal thought surrounding violence against woman.
