Cubs troll of White Sox is hilarious

Kids Day

Adam LaRoche retiring because of Ken Williams telling him that the team doesn’t wasn’t his son, Drake, in the clubhouse doesn’t appear to be going away anytime soon…

…and part of that is because of the Cubs.

Yesterday the Cubs hosted “Kids Day” at the ballpark, and the guests: kids from Glendale, Arizona, where the White Sox host their Spring Training.

It appears as if this “Kids Day” was an impromptu event stemming from the LaRoche situation going on for the Sox. Gordon Wittenmyer was making jokes early on as the kids filed in.

The best part about this was the two clubs from Chicago played each other later that day. The White Sox gained the upper hand (if there’s any such thing in Spring Training), however, with John Danks throwing a gem (again, if there’s any such thing in Spring Training) and eventually beating the Cubs 3-2.

Some people have taken issue with how much “fun” this Cubs team has been having so far this spring, but really there’s no harm in it. This Cubs’ troll job was actually quite hilarious and worked out very well for whoever in the organization came up with it and acted on it immediately. Good timing for the two teams playing each other, too.

#CubsForKids wasn’t considered a successful hashtag by any means, but it’s nice to see baseball is still about having fun and a good humor punch at a cross-town rival is something everyone can laugh about. Well, probably except Ken Williams and upper-Sox brass.

I’m always a sucker for troll jobs on social media between companies, and in such a profession like baseball (it’s a kids game!) it’s awesome to see it happening to something that has been overblown (and probably for good reason). Actually, not ‘probably.’
