The Most Majestic Home Run in Cubs History
There are quite a few home runs that would make every Chicago Cubs fan’s list. Dexter Fowler’s leadoff home run in Game 7, Kyle Schwarber’s scoreboard shot, even Miguel Montero’s grand slam in the NLCS. Those were great, and all absolutely crushed. But those pale in comparison to the longest home run in Cubs history.
And no, I’m not talking about Glenallen Hill’s rooftop shot.
So if I’m not talking about a War Bear scoreboard shot, Hill’s across the street rooftop shot – what can I be talking about?
One hint, the homer was measured only by an address for a while. That’s 3705 Kenmore to be specific. And the homer, well that came off the bat of Dave Kingman.
Kingman might have been the strongeat hitter since Babe Ruth. In fact, according to “Baseball’s Ultimate Power” by Bill Jenkinson, Ruth is the only hitter in baseball’s history to hit a ball further.
That ball flew an estimated 520 feet.

Impressive nonetheless, you can see just how much harder Kingman must have hit his ball. The fact that these two were hitting home runs further than most do in the Home Run Derby is just incredible, and a thousand times more Impressive they did it in a game.
