What in the Holy Soldier Field Beer Prices!?

You are at a football game, a game which you sat at your computer and waited in the virtual waiting room as the system told you to not refresh the screen otherwise you could lose your place in line. Staring at that screen for 10, 20, 30 minutes or more before you say, what the hell, I’ll just refresh.

“DOH!”

Now you are forced to shift through Stubhub in search of a pair that won’t break the bank too much. Finally beaten down, you select a pair located closer to Northerly Island than the playing field.

By the time you’ve hiked to your seats, you and your bud are thirsty. Time for a nice cold beer! Knowing you are just a couple sections away from a concession stand, you begin to hike down again.

Finally after waiting several minutes in line, probably behind a couple of guys that haven’t stopped drinking since the last Bears game, you are ready to order. That’s when it hits you…

HOLY HELL THESE PRICES ARE HIGH!

That is why I’m writing this. So you are a bit more prepared for those concession stands than you were last year, and so you don’t have to sign up for a Chicago Bears Capital One Visa card just to order a round of drinks.

ESPN’s Jon Greenberg used to be in charge of making the NFL’s Fan Cost Index for the Team Marketing Report. So if ever there was a guy to turn to for costs and values at Soldier Field, he’s your man.

Before Thursday night’s preseason opener against the Miami Dolphins, Jon walked the stadium in search of the best values of Soldier Field. You can read his full post here, while I help you out with what you came here for, beer prices.

It appears that Soldier Field has raised their beer prices by 25 cents from last year, but as Jon mentions that is a little misleading. Last season a 20-ounce Miller Lite cost you $9.00 and this year a 16-ounce can will put a $9.25 dent in your wallet. How much does a 20-ounce beer cost? Well the cheapest Jon found came in at $9.50, so effectively the prices were raised 50 cents over last year’s remarkably low prices.

Now this is some things get interesting. Solidea Field’s beer prices on “Imports” check in at $10.50 and is imported all the way from Wisconsin. They must use Vandelay Industries.

Greenberg didn’t leave us without a deal, by stadium prices anyways. At DMK Burger, they have some tastier choices to drink, at a great value also.

In compairison to other beer prices, these options are very good. When a Lagunitas costs a buck more everywhere else in the city, pricing it at $9.25 seems like a steal. Good thing they don’t have to “import” It from California any longer.

Finally here is the fantastic “Combo” which have got to be the best deals on the menu, right?

Oh… so they just add the price of a pretzel to the price of a beer for those? Dangnabit!

Anyways, be a pal and pass this onto any friends that will be attending a Bears game this year. Afterall, friends don’t let friends sign up for credit cards in the concourse, even if they do get a free Bears shirt.

Please check out Jon’s post here.
