Addison Russell Trolls His Haters

Life as a Major Leaguer is awesome. You get to play sports for a living, and get paid for it! Then you get to see this country, from coast to coast, with fans screaming your name along the way. To top it all off, you get to stay in the nicest hotels and eat at the nicest restaurants – a lot of times free.

Of course, there is a price to pay. Those screaming fans like to approach you when you are out and about. The “quiet” autograph seeker isn’t as quiet as they think when they ask in a crowded eatery. Then there is the heckling, which can become excruciating at times, especially socially.

While 99% of hate that is passed around social media isn’t responded to, it is often heard. Like “Mean Tweets” on Jimmy Kimmel, there certainly are times where these pros find themselves reading the comments. Then in the even rarer occurrences… the athlete responds.

The Chicago Cubs Miguel Montero played with haters over the past couple of years. When a fan would lash out at Montero for a bad play on the field, Miggy would respond back, agree, and promise to do better.

It appears that the Cubs shortstop has another way of answering his haters – kill em with kindness?

Mark Puczek, or @TheLastBadass… … … took to Twitter to lash out at Addison Russell. Apparently, those tweets got to Addison, and, well… his response was awesome.

Yes, Addison decided to ‘Like’ each tweet Mark sent. Whether it was to call out an error, a strikeout, grounding into a double play and following it up with a call to bring up Ian Happ.

Oh and Mark seems to attack other Cubs players, you know, cause he is the last badass. It is odd that his tirade on Cubs players ended on the 18th before the Cubs had back-to-back wins, one of them on an Addison Russell walk-off… but I’m sure he was just being badass somewhere else the past two days.

This is exactly how one should respond to hecklers. Way to go, Addison ‘Future MVP’ Russell.
