Girardi was a favorite by some for the Chicago Cubs open managerial spot, but after the Cubs turned to another former catcher, David Ross, Girardi was looking towards either Philadelphia or the New York Mets opening.
There are still managerial openings in San Diego, New York, San Francisco, Pittsburgh, and Kansas City.
