With the Packers honoring Brett Favre in the Bears vs Packers game on Thanksgiving, wouldn’t it be fun to look at Brett Favre’s worst games against the beloved Chicago Bears? Of course it would.
Throughout Brett Favre’s 16 years in Green Bay we were more likely to see him burn the Chicago Bears secondary for 350 yards than see a costly interception. But regardless of how you remember Favre’s dominance over the Bears, there were some instances in which Chicago got the best of one of the best quarterbacks in NFL history.
There are hundreds of lists of his best games, here’s a list (albeit small) of Brett Favre’s worst games against the Bears.

The shutout
Behind Brett Favre, the Packers had dominated the most storied rivalry in football. September 6th, 2006 the Bears got to play a little pay back to the grizzled face gunslinger.
During a dominating performance by the Bears defense, they intercepted Favre twice in route to handing him his first career shutout as the Bears rolled 27-0.
The Halloween game
While some will remember this game as the day the Packers rained on Dick Butkus and Gale Sayers parade, people may not remember that Favre was horrendous in the 30-6 trouncing.
Sure a Steve Walsh to Jeff Graham connection accounted for the only Bears points, but Brett had an extremely poor performance that day as well. He threw three interceptions, while completing only 15 passes for a grand total of 82 yards on the day.
The ground is where the Packers beat the Bears, with Favre running for 58 yards, including a 36 yard TD scamper, and Edgar Bennett added 105 yards and three total TDs (one receiving).
Regaining dominance
The Bears had won 13 of the 15 previous games before the Brett Favre led Packers took the next two games.
Enough was enough as the Bears defense harassed Favre for three interceptions, two of which were returned for touchdowns.
The Packers would then go undefeated against the Bears from this 1993 game until 1999.
Lovie’s called shot
Lovie Smith was hired before the start of the 2004 season, and while some head coaches will declare the Super Bowl being their number one objective, Lovie named beating the Packers as his.
He backed that up, at least for the short-term.
In the team’s first matching with Lovie on-board, the Bears picked Favre off twice, and Mike Brown returned an Ahman Green fumble 95-yards for a touchdown, sealing the win.
Vasher FTW
In Lovie Smith’s third installment of Bears-Packers football, the team was able to earn four takeaways in a 19-7 affair.
While Brett Favre would attempt 58 passes, the only to reach the end zone was rookie Nathan Vasher’s 45-yard interception return with around four minutes remaining to seal the Bears victory.
The miracle on Lake Shore dr.
The Bears and Packers faced off on Christmas as the Bears won 24-17.
While the score was close, the game really wasn’t as Favre threw four picks, the last on what would become the Packers final drive. More impressive, the game marked the first time Favre failed to throw for a score in four straight games, his previous longest scoreless streak was two.
While Favre would bring his season interception total to 28 (career high), what ate at the Packers most was the Bears clinching the division on the frozen tundra of Lambeau Field.
The final play
Sure this comes years upon years later, and I will first say I’m not celebrating in an injury, just listing Favre’s worst games, and this would certainly fall somewhere in his worst.
On 12/20/2010 Favre played his last down of football against the Bears, and it didn’t go as the rest of his storied career went. Here’s the play that took one of the best quarterbacks I’ve ever seen out.
