Sorry this is late folks, I have had some medial issues the past couple of days and it has taken a toll on me. But here is the Chicago Cubs lineup for game five of the 146th season of Cubs baseball.
Do we have some goodies in this one.
The Cubs will face Julio Teheran, a pitcher who has shut down the Cubs hitters in the past. In fact, there are only two guys that have hit Teheran much at all, Albert Almora (.500 BA with a HR) and Kyle Schwarber (.429 with a double).
Outside of that, Teheran has pretty much handled every Cubs hitter in tonight’s lineup.
- Ben Zobrist – .200/.200/.200 2 RBI
- Kris Bryant – .091/.167/.364 1 HR 3 K
- Anthony Rizzo – .222/.391/.444 1 HR 4 K and 5 BB
- Javier Baez – .167/.167/.167 3 K
- Willson Contreras – .000/.333/.000 1 BB
- Daniel Descalso – .182/.308/.364 2 BB
- Jason Heyward – .000/.167/.000 1 BB
In fact, the man who has done the most damage against him, Almora isn’t even in the game tonight as Heyward shifts over to center while Zobrist plays right field.
Defensively, I don’t like Zobrist in RF in Atlanta. This is one of the biggest outfields in the NL, and with that much ground to cover I would expect Zobrist to play back to not give up extra-bases, allowing for balls to fall in front of him. I, personally, would opt for the more athletic and defensively sound OF which has Almora in it. But, I get paid $0.25 an article and not $6 million a year to run a baseball team.
