The last several weeks have been very strange for Chicago Bears fans, the team has been creating ways to lose, but Justin Fields has been incredible. In each of the last two weeks, Fields has broken an NFL record, but they would find a way to lose with the ball in their hands. But, nonetheless, an NFL expert, and former QB, is suggesting Justin Fields is in MVP consideration.
The Fields story has really picked up over the last six games or so. While he isn’t tearing up the air with a ton of passing yards, he’s doing enough to keep opposing defenses honest. This opens up large spaces to run when the line breaks down, he’s out running defensive spies when they keep one in the box, and designed runs become dangerous as soon as he breaks the first line of defense.

Essentially, opposing defenses are f’d when the Bears are on offense and that has shown on the scoreboard as they’ve averaged 30 points the past three weeks.
This offensive resurgence has 100% to do with the skillset of Fields. With an inconsistent offensive line, equally inconsistent receiving corps, Fields legs have been the most dangerous weapons in the NFL these past five weeks. But, we seem to glance over how effective his arm has been as well.
Over the past six weeks, Fields has a QB Rating of 99.6, has thrown for 10 TDs to only 3 INT, is completing 63% of his passes, and is averaging 100 rushing yards over that time. He’s also accounted for 15 touchdowns (passing and rushing) over that period.
His exciting play has lead to consecutive weeks of breaking NFL records. The first, rushing yards by a QB in a game (178), and the second as the first QB to have 2 TD passing and 2 TD running in consecutive weeks. When you watch these games, he is making huge plays with both his feet *and* his arm.
Are you serious, @justnfields?! 🤯

Fields has been a cheat code. That is why Dan Orlovsky is suggesting Fields can play his way into the MVP conversation.
.@danorlovsky7 says he believes Justin Fields could play himself into the MVP conversation 🗣

"I honestly believe Justin's play is going to warrant him getting into [the MVP] conversation. … He has been so remarkable over this last month." pic.twitter.com/aEHBEEAaey
“I honestly believe Justin’s play is going to warrant him getting into [the MVP] conversation,” Orlovsky told the panel. Fields, on any contending team, is the league’s MVP. When you watch how electric he is, there should no longer be the doubts or criticism. But… there are people still doubting QB1… every step of the way…
Bears fans that still suggest he isn’t good, or “has had a couple good weeks” and even suggesting, ignorantly, that he should be moved to receiver or running back. They want him to change positions, to a more physical spot on the field, and also argue that he’s one hit away from being neutralized.
Those same folks are the same “fans” that questioned the Bears for drafting an Ohio State QB (like the past dictates anything in the future), they were critical of the Bears for choosing a mobile QB because, “we need a guyz that stands in da pocket like a realz man,” but have never seen a real quarterback drafted and developed by the Bears. Essentially, they’re old men sitting on their lawn yelling at others because the game has changed and Fields is a sign of the “new NFL” which has taken hold. Guys like Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson, Kyler Murray, (disgustingly) Deshaun Watson, and the unicorn, Patrick Mahomes.
All of those guys run, move the pocket, put pressure on the defense with their arm and their legs. Fields can be every bit as effective as Allen, a much better version of Jackson, more dynamic than Murray, and more athletically dangerous than Mahomes. He has a ways to go, yes, and the Bears need to upgrade the personnel around him, but Fields is showing you with dimes over the defense and scrambling 65+ yard dashes that he’s the complete package.
We shouldn’t be surprised to hear, “Fields is in MVP consideration” by the end of the season – regardless of the Bears record.
