Amazingly, This Was Only the Second Time He’s Done This

The Chicago White Sox’s Chris Sale had been one of the most dominate pitchers of this era. That’s what makes his performance in Friday night’s game that much more impressive, as he did something for the second time ever in his career.

In the middle of a classic pitcher’s duel with Tampa Bay Rays pitcher Jake Odorizzi at Tropicana Field, Chris Sale notched his second career shutout victory as the White Sox won 1-0. While shutouts are incredibly tough to come by, Sale has been one of a handful of elite-level pitchers in baseball since he’s stepped foot on a Major League Baseball pitcher’s mound.

Sale’s last shutout came May 12th, 2013 as he one-hit the Los Angeles Angels.

Sale almost didn’t get credit for the win, which would have been disapponting after an incredible pitching performance, but Melky Cabrera cane through in the ninth inning with a 2-out RBI single off of Rays reliever Alex Colome.

Sale and Melky helped the White Sox improve to 8-2 and currently first place in the AL Central.
