Another Insider Says Cubs Will Sign Jake
We have talked about this for a while now, and it appears more and more likely to happen. Yesterday I mentioned how Bruce Levine reported the Cubs and Scott Boras have had a lot of conversation around Jake. Last week we talked about the Cubs ultimatum on only being interested if Jake would accept a four-year $110 million deal. Now Robert Murray of FanRag Sports suggests Jake will in fact sign with the Cubs.
“That’s good news for Cubs fans.” 👍

Around the 9:35 mark in the post, Robert talks about the big pitchers out there. He states that Jake will come down to the Cubs and St Louis Cardinals, and he will eventually choose the Cubs.
Again, Jake had been looking for a six-year deal this offseason. With the way the offseason has progressed, there are some that believe Jake and Boras have pulled off that and would accept a five-year with an overvalued AAV. It still isn’t clear how much or how long the Cubs would actually go, or if four-years $110 is and always has been their final offer.
A little side piece that came from the Cubs Convention. During the Kids Only Press Conference, It seems that Anthony Rizzo and the crew believe Jake is the best fit as well.

At the 1:45 mark, a kid asks which pitcher would bring the most to the Cubs. The entire panel agreed on Jake. Now, of course, they could be playing to the crowd or didn’t want to say anything controversial. Thing is, they talk. This group talks to each other, and while no one would recommend that their friend take less money, they certainly would pull for their buddy to remain with the club.
