Castellanos Bat Pic Surfaces on Twitter, Signal a Return to Cubs?

I don’t like to get into these too often because one, the original post might be a fabrication. Two, the team usually ships everything equipment-wise they have. Three, it’s a murky world living in these possible rumors. But, here we are.

Now, Greg Williams’ Twitter page shows he’s the Sports Director on WONC sports which is the North Central College Athletics sports radio station. If I were someone with the intention of getting into sports journalism, I wouldn’t pass along fake news (hence this website). Which leads me to believe he actually has a father that works for United and he actually was packing Cubs equipment for the flight to Arizona.

But, was it in the gear because Nick Castellanos is nearing a deal with the Cubs, or is it just because the Cubs had it on hand?

Your guess is as good as mine here…

Personally, I think it was leftover inventory. The Cubs often sell old equipment, game used stuff, etc. at ST and that’s likely the deal here. While several out there think there was a handshake deal back in December between the Cubs and Castellanos, I just don’t think that makes sense. Why ask Castellanos to wait it out for the Cubs to trade someone that frees up space, to potentially lose money because the market passed him up?

This feels like a big nothing burger to me.
