When Chicago Cubs ace, Jon Lester left Thursday’s game against the Cincinnati Reds, the worst case was assumed. Today we learned that the Cubs and Lester dodged a bullet.

This is great news, especially since the time table for lat injuries are all over the place. If it is just fatigue, that explains why his pitches appeared flat and 2-3 MPH slower. It should also be something that can be evaluated in a handful of days for a quick return.
We also learned that Justin Grimm is headed for the DL as well. It was original reported that he would be demoted to Iowa, but a DL trip saves an option. He could then be recalled come September once rosters are expanded.
