Cubs Player’s Weekend Nicknames! And those Jersey’s, Ahhh…?

Umm… how about those player’s weekend jerseys… They look like a failed 1990’s Starter design that you’d only find in Foot Locker in the outlet malls.

Now, I’m personally not crazy about the all white tops, but that’s just me. The hat I think is sweet as all hell and might pick one up. Of course you can pick them up from our partners at Fanatics!

I will point out, Zobrist, Kintzler, Morrow, Kimbrel, and Descalso aren’t likely to be active for the weekend (Aug. 23-25). For a full list of nicknames, here’s a cool link.

I know there are mixed results on the Player’s Weekend, which is now in its third year. Some just can’t stand it, don’t like the change from the traditional jersey. I’ve even seen the criticism that it’s just another money grab trying to part more dollars from the fans.

I saw so what! This is fun. Baseball is FUN! We need more of this. I’d like to see them do a first half and a second half weekend. Or every getaway game features this or another craft-like jersey.

Imagine if every team had a contest where fans submitted their designs for one of the weekends. Or if players could wear hats featuring the colors of their home country’s flags. I like baseball showing the world that the players are people, with personalities and have fun and just enjoy the incredible opportunity to play the game.
