  20. San Francisco Giants 24-24

One thing to remember when looking at these lists is, it isn’t based on standings or necessarily record, at least not as in a whole. It does factor results, but it also factors in things like strength of roster, expected result, and a number of things. It means little now as ultimately baseball, above most other teams, all you have to do is make the postseason and you have a legitimate chance of winning the World Series.

I would like to point out the Phillies. Here is a team which a lot of Cubs fans wondered why Jake Arrieta would turn to, especially if he was touted as a “Playoffville” pitcher. Like mentioned on several occasions, the Phillies are a team on the cusp of being really really good and they have started to play that way. They’ve gotten some really good pitching, and some of their young stars have stepped up. If they start getting more consistent hitting, watch out.

The Brewers, even though they are 1-7 against the Cubs, deserve to have cracked the top five for the first time this season. They’ve played nearly .700 baseball over the past two weeks and if the game gets to Josh Hader – game over. They have caught an injury bug, but that hasn’t kept them from the top spot in the Central.

The Cubs didn’t help themselves following up a 5-1 week with a 5-3 week. They are still playing over .500 ball, and as I pointed out, they are a really good team just perhaps in disguise at the moment.
