Insider: We Have Some Names to Interview for Cubs Job
You knew Theo Epstein and Jed Hoyer we’re going to move quickly. During Monday’s press conference, Theo mentioned that they have a broad list, and David Ross among one other internal candidate was on it. Today, Bruce Levine named a few more.
The Chicago Cubs will have three internal employees interview for the managers job. David Ross and coaches Will Venable and Mark Loretta will all sit down with the front office soon .Other candidates may include Joe Girardi and Houston Coach Joe Espada .

So, we assumed Mark Loretta was going to be on the list. There was a lot of chatter among folks, including some media members, that believed Tommy Hottovy would earn a sit down as well. But it seems that another popular name, Will Venable, is another internal choice.
Externally, Bruce mentions Joe Girardi as well as Houston Astros coach, Joe Espada. Espada is likely the name Theo referenced that was in the playoffs.
I don’t read the last two names as being confirmed, they are popular options that have been making the rounds online.
