I don’t mean that children’s show that has captivated like every child born in the past four years. Apparently Javier Baez is out in Puerto Rico building training facilities with spaces to save homeless dogs.

Baez is just another shinning example of a great player and great human. People may get on him for his flash and impassioned play, but he truly is a good dude. This summer when I was vacationing in Punta Cana, we stopped in Puerto Rico before we jumped the pond to the Dominican Republic. While there, I spoke with a couple of locals who had mentioned how many animals were loose after the hurricane hit the island the previous year, and how many of the dogs “packed up” and were a danger to others in the area. This is something we saw in New Orleans when hurricane Katrina hit.

And, this story touches my heart today as our family just lost our pup of 12 years (she was 16) on Thursday. So, in honor of Sadie, and to the great work Javy is doing, I dedicate this story to our dog. Love you and we all miss you Sadie.
