John Lackey Threatens a Padre After Doubleheader
Today was not a good day. The Chicago Cubs lost back-to-back games for the first time this season. They did so through bad baseball – poor defense, poor pitching, and poor offense.
During the night cap, John Lackey was tasked with earning a spilt against the San Diego Padres. Instead John Lackey threatens a Padre after the game 2 loss.
Lackey fuming after Bethancourt watched ball that reached Waveland: “How many home runs does he have? I got a long memory. He’ll learn.”

Pitchers are sensituve dudes, and every one of them will get mad if a batter stands at the plate too long after launching a moonshot off them. My personal philosophy is, if you don’t want a guy to watch it don’t give it up. Be better at your job. No one threatens a pitcher when they celebrate after getting an out, don’t threaten a hitter if he celebrates.
Checking all over Twitter, most fans were ok with Christian Bethancourt’s staring at what he just accomplished. Sure it came after Lackey had just retired the first 14 batters to come to the plate, but the dude mashed that ball.
Here are some Twitter reactions.
Lackey did not appear pleased with Bethancourt loving on his HR…

I wouldn't actually care if Bethancourt rode his bat like an imaginary horse after the HR.
He murdered that ball.

John Lackey took exception to Bethancourt pimpin' out the box. Has he ever watched his SS hit HR's..?

Seriously John Lackey yelling at Bethancourt is hilarious. Rizzo/Bryant/Baez/Schwarber all admire their HRs. Part of baseball. Grow up.

Yeah, has he?
Here’s a little longer view of Kyle enjoying his blast.
