Jonathan Toews Incredible Back to Back OT Winners Hasn’t Been Done Since This Chicago Athlete

There have been some great and memorable performances by Chicago athletes over the years, and Jonathan Toews back-to-back OT winners are listed right up there with all of them. If you’ve seen them or not, I’m sure you wouldn’t be opposed to another quick glance.

First Toews first goal of the season, the miraculous game winner against Tampa Bay Lightning, who became very familiar with the Blackhawks and The Fratellis just a few short months ago.

This goal, scored at just 17 seconds into OT (Blackhawks fans are familiar with 17 seconds) sent the United Center crowd home happy humans.

The next was against a team that should be a contender all season, but at the 51 second mark in overtime, the captain did this.

That goal sent the Blachawks fans home happy in back-to-back games, and Anaheim went home scratching their heads as to how a team who is missing their best defender in Duncan Keith could shut them out.

Back-to-back Overtime winners don’t happen much in hockey or any other sports for that matter. In fact, the last time a Chicago athlete accomplished it is when Mike Brown, Chicago Bears old safety, had an unprecedented back-to-back interception returns for touchdowns against the San Francisco 49ers and then the Cleveland Browns in 2001.

A little bonus Mike Brown coverage there, but you probably don’t mind. Whew, it sure would be nice if the Bears had a ball hawk like Brown in the secondary this year.

Which performance was better? Lets us at Chicago Style know.
