Today the Chicago Cubs made two moves. The first, they placed Joc Pederson on the 10-day IL with left wrist inflammation. The second, recalling Nico Hoerner.

As expected, roughly two weeks into the new season the Cubs recalled Nico. This helps them skirt around a full year of service time, and they will gain another year of control. Honestly, I feel the Cubs and Nico find a nice mini-extension similar to David Bote.

Nico will be an important clog in the next Cubs run, regardless of who from this core is around.
