Major Publication Forgets the Cubs

The Chicago Cubs haven’t experienced much success in their last 100 plus years of existence, which makes this omission by the Baseball Digest even more infuriating for die hard Cubs fans. FB_IMG_1440508448687

The magazine, is the oldest and longest-running baseball publication in the world, omitted the Cubs from their World Series cover. While they could have run out of room for the Cubs, or they decided to select from a small list of teams with a chance at a title, it’s puzzling how the magazine would choose the San Francisco Giants and Washington Nationals – two teams that do not currently own a playoff spot – over the Cubs, who have won 17 of their last 21 games.

The Cubs aren’t a sure fire lock to even make the playoffs, but according to Baseball Prospectus’ playoff odds the Cubs have a 93.7% chance at the postseason while the Giants have a 27.3% chance and the Nationals sit at lowly 15.4% shot.

You know something is wrong with your cover when the team with the fourth best record in baseball can’t find their way onto a World Series issue. Come on Baseball Digest.
