Nico Hoerner is Coming Up!?!?
Yesterday afternoon when Addison Russell was hit in the head with a 93-MPH fastball, my brother sent a message asking if the Cubs would be desperate enough to call-up Nico Hoerner. I dismissed it immediately, saying he’s far off and we reviewed who *could* fill in at short if Russell missed any time.
But then I wake to this Paul Sullivan tweet.
With Baez out and Addison beaned, look for Cubs to call up Nico Hoerner to help fill gap at short. Cubs' top pick last year, Nico hit .284 at Double-A Tenn.

I guess I misjudged the Cubs front office’s urgency.
Originally, I figured Nico would be a late 2020 call-up, and that he would officially be a Major-Leaguer come the 2021 season. But Hoerner-time is here!
Nico wowed fans with a very impressive Spring Training. Then, after a small set-back, Hoerner has hit .292/.349/.403 across rookie and Double-A ball.
It sounds like he will soon add an MLB statline to his 2019 line. Supposedly, Hoerner will join the Cubs in San Diego.
