Pedro Strop’s Crazy Night, Car Stolen, Car Chase, Cops, and a Save
Umm… your night likely wasn’t as interesting as Chicago Cubs reliever Pedro Strop. Turns out, before the game on Wednesday night. There was a police chase, phone calls with police until the fourth. A save.
The Cubs are beginning to have that swagger. Sure it helps when Javier Baez blasts a huge 3-run home run to tie the game and a couple batters later Jason Heyward hits a 3-run shot of his own to take the lead.
But the stangeness of Strop’s night trumps everything else that happened. Before the game Pedro learned his car was stolen, which he was dealing with throughout the game. When it came to the fourth inning he finally told the police that he had to go, cause well, he would have to pitch.
“I was still giving them my information in the fourth inning, and I told them, ‘I have to go. I might have to pitch,'” Strop said.
Later we would learn that his car was involved in a police chase. Strop didn’t have too many more details on the event, but it didn’t appear the distraction effected his performance.
