Ken Rosenthal is reporting that the Oakland A’s will be acquiring Chafin, just awaiting the review of medicals.
The A’s are on the verge of acquiring left-handed reliever Andrew Chafin from the Cubs, pending a review of medical records. @Feinsand first reported a trade involving Chafin was close.

The deal will not be official until the medical review is completed on all players involved, per Jeff Passan.
Oakland’s deal for left-handed reliever Andrew Chafin won’t be official until the teams review the medicals of the players involved, sources tell ESPN, but if completed it gives the A’s the high-leverage arm they’ve sought. He’s been fantastic. @feinsand and @Ken_Rosenthal on it.

While this is normal, Chafin has not left the bullpen and this is so normal that Passan tweeting that suggests that there might be something up with one of the players involved. Perhaps one of the returning players have recently come off the IL? As Bleacher Nation reminds us, Dan Kantrovitz (Cubs VP of Scouting) came from the A’s. He has intimate information on many players in the Oakland organization, and maybe a player that slipped down a bit due to injury, who Dan thinks highly of, can slip through the cracks to fall into the Cubs laps?
Chafin immediately became a fan favorite for the Cubs. His interactions with the fanbase via social media, his firebird, the hair and stache – what wasn’t to love. He will be missed and if I am speaking for all fans, I’d welcome him next year.
Also, not to toot my horn… but I sorta knew something was up…
I hate to put it out there, but don't be surprised if we have a #HugWatch in tonight's game.

As this develops, we’ll add more.

The Cubs will acquire Greg Deichmann, a Triple-A outfielder for the A’s Las Vegas affiliate, as well as two other players. Deichmann has a .881 OPS thus far for their Vegas club. He is currently rated as the A’s ninth best prospect.
