#TBT VIDEO: Huge Ernie Banks Milestone

Ernie Banks, quite possibly the greatest Chicago Cubs to ever put on the uniform, hit his 500th home run on this date in 1970.

The slugger would go on to hit 12 more dingers in the ’70 and ’71 season, and finish his career with 512. It is fitting that “Mr. Cub” and owner of the phrase, “let’s play two” did this 46 years ago today as the Cubs just finished a doubleheader against the San Diego Padres.

While Banks might not be here to physically watch his beloved Cubs in what looks to be a magical season, I’m certain he’s in heaven pulling some strings for the team every day.
