The Cubs and right-hander Kyle Hendricks agreed to a one-year deal

Today (January 11th) is day arbitration salaries are to be entered. Teams will submit their figure, players will submit theirs, and many agreements will be announced. Per Fancred’s Jon Heyman, the Chicago Cubs and starting pitcher Kyle Hendricks have settled on a one-year deal worth $7.405MM.

The Cubs have six players that were arbitration eligible. Hendricks signing brings it to five, and the club and Addison Russell had already agreed to a one-year deal. It is important to note, while these are one year deals, the Cubs retain the rights to all of these players beyond the 2019 season. The Cubs have rights to Hendricks until the 2021 season.
