Cubs and Lester Dodge Bullet

When Chicago Cubs ace, Jon Lester left Thursday’s game against the Cincinnati Reds, the worst case was assumed. Today we learned that the Cubs and Lester dodged a bullet.

This is great news, especially since the time table for lat injuries are all over the place. If it is just fatigue, that explains why his pitches appeared flat and 2-3 MPH slower. It should also be something that can be evaluated in a handful of days for a quick return.

We also learned that Justin Grimm is headed for the DL as well. It was original reported that he would be demoted to Iowa, but a DL trip saves an option. He could then be recalled come September once rosters are expanded.

Here are the Cubs subsequent moves.
