As I wrote yesterday, expect the Chicago Cubs to ramp up their efforts to sign a pitcher. I may have gotten the order flipped, but it appears the Cubs and free agent Brandon Morrow are nearing a deal. Both Fanrag’s Jon Heyman and CBS Sports Bruce Levine report.

This is very encouraging, even though Heyman can’t type.

I have been on the Cubs signing Brandon Morrow for a while now. The rumors I have been chasing are coming to fruition. Those same sources point to the deal being 3 years at around $8 million per season.

I still think the Cubs continue this momentum and will ink Alex Cobb soon. Nothing I have heard tells me otherwise.

Thank you Hot Stove for finally making your way to Chicago!
