Ohmygod ohmygod ohmygod ohmygod! We’re just receiving news that Kevin Costner is trying to create a Cubs movie! Yes your Chicago Cubs, my Chicago Cubs, our Chicago Cubs in a Kevin Costner baseball movie!
Of course you know Kevin Costner from the best baseball movies ever, Bull Durham, Field of Dreams, For the Love of the Game. Now, he’s making a movie about the Chicago Cubs!
Kevin revealed this in an exclusive interview with Larry King recently, you can see that piece of the interview here.
There are so many different directions that he can go with the movie about the Cubs. Whether it is their lovable loser history that has attracted so many fans to them just being the most beloved team in Chicago. It could cover eccentric ownership, or just be a great story about Costner sitting in the manager’s seat in Wrigley Field. Maybe, just maybe, this is a movie similar to Draft Day where he is tasked to build a championship caliber team like we have today?
I for one am extremely excited to find out exactly what this movie is about and of course to watch it opening day. Maybe the Cubs will even broadcast it on the video boards in Wrigley Field, now wouldn’t that be awesome!?
We all know Kevin Costner’s love affair with baseball, with all the great movies he starred in. Some may or may not recall, Costner was an investor in the short-lived Lake County Fielders minor league team that was in Zion Illinois. That team is now defunct, however Kevin’s allure to Chicago baseball apparently still remains.
