Buying Tickets to Wednesday’s or Thursday’s Cubs Game Could be a GREAT Investment

“Are you an idiot!?” That’s likely what you’re thinking. Wednesday’s Chicago forecast shows temperatures in the low 30’s with rain and possibly snow for the 7:05 PM start. On Thursday, another 7:05 start, it will be in the mid-40’s at game time, with potential thunderstorms. The likelihood of these games being played are not high, and if they do play the conditions are going to be horrible.

I understand. But here’s a reason why it could be an investment.

The Cubs started a process where tickets for postponed games are valid for the makeup game. So what you’re banking on is buying low on this game, and investing for the future date. Whether you attend the game or sell, both Wednesday’s and Thursday’s games offer a great future investment.

The first potential makeup date is June 3rd.

The Pittsburgh Pirates are playing a weekend series against the Milwaukee Brewers, which ends Sunday June 2nd. The Cubs will be finishing up a weekend trip to St Louis, and coming home to start a three-game set against the Colorado Rockies beginning the 4th. It is very feasible that there is a rescheduled game on June 3rd, allowing you to either spend a day in the sun, while playing hooky from work or resell that ticket for much more than you bought it for.

The next date would likely be a day/night doubleheader the next time the Pirates come to Wrigley. Which is July 12-14.

This is a game you want. It is a Friday through Sunday, in mid-July. Chicago weather doesn’t get much better than mid-July, and spending a day at Wrigley at that time is the best way to spend a weekend afternoon.

To make things better, tickets are being sold on StubHub for as low as $6.00 a seat. This could provide the absolute cheapest way to catch a game in mid-July. Tickets to the Cubs Pirates series from July 12-14 start at $30 a seat on StubHub.

Again, invest in your future plans or buy them for the potential resale value. Either way, the next two days very well could be games to buy.
