Did a Bears Receiver Just Rip Jay Cutler?

Monday night saw the Ohio State Buckeyes beat Virginia Tech by the score of 42-24. While the Buckeyes had an impressive showing, there was another interesting event that came out of the game.

New Chicago Bears receiver Eddie Royal was tweeting about the game when he put this nugget out there in the twitterverse.

Eddie eventually removed the tweet, but thanks to a few screen shots we were able to capture this.

Could this be Eddie calling out Bears QB Cutler? Or could there be another explanation for the tweet?

Some have suggested that the tweet wad actually meant to be directed towards Royal’s Alma mater, Virginia Tech. If that was the case, why did he quickly delete the tweet?

This isn’t the first time a NFL player has (allegedly) attacked Cutler on social media, but this could mark the first time a teammate has. If you remember back in 2011 with the Bears playing the Packers in the NFC Championship game, Cutler left after the first series in the second half due to a severely sprained knee. This prompted several players to take to twitter to call out the Bears quarterback.

“If I’m on chicago team jay cutler has to wait till me and the team shower get dressed and leave before he comes in the locker room! #FACT.” Darnell Dockett

“All I’m saying is that he can finish the game on a hurt knee… I played the whole season on one…” Maurice Jones-Drew

Cutler was also met with some criticism from former Bears receiver, Brandon Marshall. While the pair seemed to be close throughout their playing history together, the fallout during last season seemed to break that relationship up. While never really naming Cutler directly, Marshall seemed to take several shots at the QB through social media this past offseason.

2015 really seems like the make or break year for Jay, and all the additional noise surrounding him off the field, distractions out of his control, continue to follow him throughout his career. We may not find out for sure if Eddie Royal’s tweet was directed at Cutler or not, but hopefully his play on the field makes every one for get abut all of this.

    1. Haha, tell me how you really feel! Do you mean research like mentioning he went to VT and could have been talking about his Alma mater, like the article clearly states?

  1. Probably deleted it because people will assume what you just assumed, that it was about Cutler and VT qbs…
