Game 6 of 162 – The Day That Changed the Cubs Season

Pain. Pain and suffering!

Thats what Cubs fans have felt while watching some of the issues the bullpen have had in recent games. But momentum in baseball is the next day’s starter. Today Yu Darvish is the Cubs momentum.

Darvish has faired alright verse most Atlanta Braves hitter’s, well, that is against those that he’s faced. Which, he hasn’t faced any of the better young Braves hitters.

The Cubs are going with what should infuriate Cubs fans. How Mark Zagunis is seeing another start in the outfield is beyond most. David Bote is the second baseman, a day after Ben Zobrist has multiple hits.

Kyle Schwarber is back in the lineup today, against a lefty pitcher, Max Fried. Hopefully today is the day that Schwarber shows he should get more looks verse lefty pitchers.

Also of note, Albert Almora is back in the leadoff spot today. He is batting .263/.400/.263 on the season, and only .111 verse lefties. It’s likely he comes through today as his career has proven that he can absolutely hit left-handers.

The key will be Darvish. How long can he go, and if he can hand the ball off to a better relief performance today. It’s unfair, but Darvish needs to put forth a seven-inning game or better right now.
