Hey Fox Sports, Just Stop It

The Chicago Cubs are the best team in baseball. Period. End of story. Outside of some sketchy play around the All Star break, they have owned the best record in baseball, have had the best defense, the best pitching staff, and arguably the best offense.

Because of this people have been trying to whether the expectations of Chicago Cub fans all throughout the season. The most recent of which is Chris Bahr at Fox Sports.

In his hot taek, Chris explains that only three teams that have led the league in wins have won a World Series since 2000. He continued his hard hitting reporting by mentioning only one team, the 2009 New York Yankees, have won a World Series when they have won 100-games in the regular season. He also hints at curses as well, you know… to continue his in depth expose on the Cubs championship chances.

Here’s the deal Chris, I can call you Chris right? Cubs fans don’t care about the stats, trends, who has done what, or chances. We are cautiously optimistic because we are Cubs fans. We have seen more dumb finishes to a baseball season than any other fanbase in sport.

We know that a 3-1 series lead doesn’t guarantee you anything. We know a divisional lead in September can be overcome. We know that playoff appearances (14 since 1908) dosen’t equate to titles, and most of all we know that after 108 years – it’s never “just your time.”

We Cubs fans may have been a little puffy chested throughout the season, I’ll admit that, but that doesn’t mean we all aren’t cautiously waiting for that other foot to drop. Even if no other season impacts what happens this season.

So go back to stealing ESPN’s most hated on-air talent, creating shows that no one cares about, and pretending that since you air NFC football games we care about your failure of a network. We don’t need your call for caution, we already are cautioned.
