LOL! Yu Was So Dominant He Created New Pitches
What alternate universe do we live in!? Yu Darvish is the ace of the Chicago Cubs staff right now, and its not considerably close. His second half ERA is 2.93, since July he’s held opposing hitters to a .203/.237/.429 slash line, and has struck out 78 in 62 innings. Oh, and he owns baseball’s longest streak between walks.
The difference has been confidence, for one. But the overwhelming difference has been his ability to command all of his pitches. So what does Yu-san do once he mastered his pitches?
Masters Craig Kimbrel’s out pitch.
Darvish said he got two strikeouts with his new knucklecurve tonight. Yu: “Kimbrel taught me that a week ago.”

Here's a look at the knucklecurve that Darvish used to K McNeil in the 8th inning. More velo than his usual curve. pic.twitter.com/pPGf6aQaYZ

So… as nasty as he’s been, Darvish added another flat out FILTHY pitch to his arsenal!?
Here’s a list of his pitches:
- Four-seam
- Two-seam
- Cutter
- Hard cutter
- Curve
- Slow curve
- *Knucklecurve
- Slider
- Change
- Splitter
Victor Caratini has to remove his glove to show all 10 fingers. If he adds another pitch, catchers will need to use their toes to call a pitch!
