No More Tacos at Wrigley
We had to realize with all of the renovations taking place in and around Wrigley Field, the neighborhood itself would eventually see a facelift. That is exactly what is happening in the most recent plans sent to the city for approval.
The popular Taco Bell property across from Wrigley is apparently going to get the first facelift, with a planned three-story retail and restaurant complex. According to Crain’s Chicago Business, the property has about 40,000 square feet of retail space, which includes a 7,300-square-foot rooftop area and a patio along Addison, mere steps away from the famous Wrigley marquee and west of the Cubby Bear.
There isn’t a timeline of when the change will happen and the current Taco Bell has a lease that runs through July 2018.
The changes do not appear to end here as Luis Auto Repair and Box Office Tickets, which border Wrigley at 1035W. Addison is also preparing for a facelift. Wilmette based developer, Terraco has plans of turning the building into a sports bar and restaurant with a rooftop patio.
There was already a renovation in the works for the property along Addison, between Clark and Sheffield. This development includes a Lucky Strike bowling alley, Shake Shack, and 148-apartment building.
These renovations certainly will change the moniker of Wrigley being that old neighborhood ballpark. With a plethora of bars and restaurants already surrounding the stadium and the Cubs own building which includes restaurants and shopping, Wrigleyville is beginning to change quite a bit.
