The Real Reason for Jay Cutler’s Success in 2015
The Chicago Bears are one of the most storied franchises in all of sports, and in the particular sport they play, the most important position is the quarterback position. Throughout the years the Bears have mostly been quarterback deficient, but Jay Cutler’s success in 2015 might be changing that fortune.
Most experts have been giving Bears offensive coordinator Adam Gase the praise for Jay producing the best season of his career — 3,659 yards, 21 TDs against 11 int, 92.3 rating — and those experts would only be half right.
The real reason for his success? Therapy.
“We have somebody on staff here. Kristin and I have done couples therapy also,” Cutler admitted. “I’ve never met with a quarterback guy or any (mental coach) in that regard. But just couples therapy and meeting with Gloria (Balague), who’s our in-house sports psychologist, you start getting insight on some things. You start seeing things differently. That definitely has helped me deal with stuff.”
While there are certainly meatheads out there that will make fun of Cutler for needing to see a shrink, him doing so finally put him in a good position to accept coaching.
Could a couple of therapists have finally unlocked all that potential everyone has always talked about with Cutler?
“I’m not surprised,” he added. “You look at your 2006 self when (I) came into the league and it’s a drastic change. But if you’re not trying to get better in certain aspects of your life, you’re just going to stay the same. I think we can all improve. Things at home, things in your life away from work, if they’re not in order, it’s definitely going to affect your professional business.”
They may not be the sole reason for Jay Cutler’s success, but there was a lot more proof that Cutler was a good teammate, his results on the field were better, and a bwtter husband and father.
“It’s been extremely beneficial for our relationship,” Kristin Cavallari told American Baby.
All of a sudden that horrendous contract Jay was given doesnt look so bad.
