Tom Ricketts “Don’t Judge (PED Users) Too Harshly.”

While talking with Bruce Levine and Mike Esposito on WSCR-AM 670 The Score’s “Inside the Clubhouse” on Saturday morning, Cubs owner Tom Ricketts was asked about burying the hatchet with Sammy Sosa.

Being clear to remove Sosa from the conversation, to speak about PED users as a whole, he asked fans, writers, and Baseball overall to “understand their point of view.”

He went on to mention, while we know the names of the big users; Barry Bonds, Roger Clemens, Mark McGwire, etc. we do not know about the guys that tried it for a month and stopped, or the guys that saw little to no improvement.

Here are some highlights from a very interesting conversation with Tom Ricketts.

All of this ends with a singular question… where does this leave the Cubs and former superstar slugger, Sammy Sosa?

While it almost seemed dismissive, the underlying tone seemed almost as if he has (Tom) a general understanding of the era, the users, and that perhaps an eventual reconciliation between Sosa and the Cubs very well could happen. Perhaps all that needs to be done is an apology.
