White Sox Planning to Fire Robin Ventura

It had been a very rough season for the Chicago White Sox. It appeared that team GM, Rick Hahn made all the right moves in the offseason by bringing in the likes of Adam Laroche and Jeff Samardzija. After a poor 2015, where almost everyone not named Jose Abreu struggled, the White Sox appear to be planning to fire Robin Ventura.

So far the team plans on going into the 2016 season with Robin leading the team, but recent comments from potential candidates for the team’s bench coach raise eyebrows on how secure Vebtura’s job is. Sandy Alomar Jr recently interviewed and had this to say.

“I thought about it,” said Alomar. “But I didn’t want to cause a problem.”

“I didn’t want it to seem like I was coming in to replace Robin in case they stumbled out of the gate. I like and respect Robin too much for that.”

The White Sox (and just about any team) would be lucky to have Sandy on their bench. Not only does he come from a long lineage of baseball players, and his father was a good coach and manager for a long time as well. If a team were to take a shot on someone, Sandy would be the safest bet there is.

Outside of being a smart baseball guy, he’s also a very classy man as well. Many others would have jumped at the opportunity, which could have led to a manager position in the league. While it is unclear if team officials communicated that message to Sandy, or if it is just assumed with the way things have turned out for Robin and the Southside, whoever the White Sox hire there will be speculation.

Imagine a scenario in which the team starts out 10-15 in 2016, will Hahn and Jerry Reinsdorf have the same confidence in Robin with someone like Sandy on the bench? One things certain, you won’t see Robin sitting much this offseason, cause every seat seems to be hot.
